In March 2008 we received an e-mail from Jaana in Finland, containing these wonderful photos of Ardnasillagh O’Flaherty. This is what she writes about this grand stallion:
“Cobbergates daddy O´Flaherty spent the last 5 years of his life in my small stud and was my friend, mentor, working companion and the horse of my life. He was a horse that never said no for working. He took so good care of his mares and foals. He was a gentleman to breed visiting mares(I bred mares with him alone). After loosing him to melanoma and at same time I divorced, I stopped breeding connemara-ponies, cause I coudn´t find a stallion like he was and one reason was also finlands tough line for inspecting ponies and the lack of freedom to breed by your own feel.
I´m so happy [...] that someone still remembers O´Flaherty and appreciates his progeny. You know that he was really underappreciated during his time in Finland, not by mareowners but by our own breed association. He may not left many showstars but good broodmares and ponies that moved well and were exellent competing ponies in all areas of riding.
But you know that Karens email last fall brighted my day, just because someone remembered and appreciated my old hubby. Something that no-one here in finland have never done.”
